Text 5 Friends

The most persuasive message a voter gets isn't from a campaign. It's from someone they know. Sixty seconds, five texts — that's all it takes to help someone make a plan to vote.

What it looks like in the thread

Hey! Election Day is Tuesday, Nov 3. Do you have your plan to vote yet?

Honestly no — where do I even check?

christianmaxwellforcongress.com has your polling place and early voting dates. Takes 2 minutes.

Live leaderboard

Who's texting the most?

This board tracks every volunteer who reports the texts they've sent to friends, family, and neighbors. Every report adds to your total and your rank — whoever has reached the most voters sits at the top. Names show as first name and last initial only, and the numbers update as reports come in.

Pick 5 people

Friends, family, neighbors — anyone who votes in Illinois.

The Text 5 Challenge

How it works — read this first, then grab the script below.

  1. 1

Election Day is November 3 — start today, don't wait.

  2. 2

Pick 5 people: friends, family, neighbors, coworkers.

  3. 3

Take 60 seconds to text each one a reminder to make a voting plan.

  4. 4

Don't assume everyone knows when or where to vote — most people don't.

  5. 5

Use the message in Fig. 02. Copy it, paste it, hit send.

  6. 6

Follow up a few days later — run the conversation in Fig. 03.

The follow-up

Not a script — this one is a conversation. Here is how to run it.

  1. 1

Wait 3–4 days after your first text — long enough to be remembered, soon enough to matter.

  2. 2

Reply in the same thread so they know it is you, not a campaign blast.

  3. 3

Ask one simple question: "Did you get your plan to vote sorted for Christian Maxwell?"

  4. 4

If they are set: say thank you and confirm their polling place with them.

  5. 5

If they are unsure: look up their polling place together at elections.il.gov, or offer to send the link again.

  6. 6

If they are not registered: point them to the registration deadline right away — that is the one deadline that cannot be fixed later.

  7. 7

If they say no or stop replying: let it go. Thank them and move on.

You're done in 60 seconds

Five texts. Five more likely voters.

Then forward this page to a friend and ask them to take the challenge too. Personal reminders are what actually get people to the polls.

Before you send

Text only people who have opted in to receive campaign texts. Identify the sender clearly and include the applicable opt-out instructions (reply STOP to unsubscribe). Never text a purchased list, and never message anyone who has asked you not to.
