Who is Christian Maxwell?
Christian Maxwell is a Republican candidate for Congress in Illinois' 1st Congressional District. She's an entrepreneur, community advocate, and mother committed to bringing real change to the South Side of Chicago through common-sense conservative values.
What's your background?
I'm a businesswoman and lifelong Illinoisan who has built businesses from the ground up. I understand the challenges families face because I've lived them. My experience in the private sector has shown me what works—and what doesn't—when it comes to creating opportunity and prosperity.
Why are you running for Congress?
I'm running because District 1 deserves better. Our communities have been taken for granted for too long. I believe in safer streets, better schools, economic opportunity, and leaders who actually listen to their constituents. It's time for new leadership that puts people over politics.

📋 Policies (4)
What's your plan for public safety?
My public safety plan includes supporting law enforcement with proper funding and training, implementing community policing initiatives, and cracking down on organized retail theft. I'll fight for the Retail and Community Safety Enforcement Act and the Law Enforcement Protection and Advancement Act to give our officers the resources they need while building trust with communities.
How will you help the economy?
I'll fight for tax relief for working families, create Economic Revitalization Zones with federal tax breaks to attract businesses, support small landlords and entrepreneurs with grants and deferment programs, and push for workforce training that actually leads to good-paying jobs.
What's your stance on education?
I support school choice and parental empowerment while strengthening our public schools. My plan includes tutoring cooperatives for struggling students, after-school STEM and vocational programs, and ensuring parents have a say in their children's education. Every child deserves access to a quality education.
What about healthcare?
I'm focused on making healthcare more accessible and affordable, especially for mothers and families. This includes maternal care initiatives, support for birth centers, childcare assistance, and expanding clinic access in underserved areas. Healthcare should serve families, not bureaucrats.

💭 Tough Questions (3)
How do you differ from other candidates?
I'm not a career politician. I've built businesses, hired contractors, and met payroll. I know what it takes to create real economic opportunity. While others talk, I've delivered results in the private sector, and I'll bring that same practical, results-driven approach to Congress.
What makes you think you can win in a historically Democratic district?
Because people are tired of the status quo. They want safer streets, better schools, and real economic opportunity—not more empty promises. My message resonates across party lines because it's built on common sense, not ideology. This district is ready for change.
Where do you stand on national Republican issues?
I'm focused on the issues that matter most to District 1: public safety, economic development, education, and healthcare. While I'm proud to be a Republican, I'm not interested in partisan games—I'm interested in results. I'll work with anyone who shares my commitment to making our communities stronger.
